Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

    If desired, rim four glasses with margarita salt. Place the glasses in the fridge or freezer to chill.

  2. Step 2.

    Slice 1 jalapeño pepper. Place the slices in a microwave-safe bowl, pour 3 ounces of tequila over them, and microwave for 10 seconds.

  3. Step 3.

    Carefully ignite the tequila-soaked jalapeños and let them burn briefly until the flame subsides.

  4. Step 4.

    Fill a blender with 4 cups crushed ice. Add the remaining 9 ounces tequila, 4 ounces Cointreau, and 8 ounces fresh lime juice. Then add the burned jalapeños. Blend at high speed until smooth.

  5. Step 5.

    Serve the margarita in the chilled glasses.
