Let's Cook
-
Step 1.
Prepare the Rhode Island chili according to your recipe. Warm it on the stove over medium heat or in the microwave until hot, then keep it warm while you cook the hot dog.
-
Step 2.
Set up a steamer for the bun. If you don't have a steamer, you can wrap the bun in foil and warm it in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes, or microwave it for 15 seconds.
-
Step 3.
Panfry a pork and veal hot dog using the flattop method: heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat, add the hot dog, and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and heated through, about 4-5 minutes.
-
Step 4.
While the hot dog cooks, steam the bun in the steamer until warm and pliable, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
-
Step 5.
Place the cooked hot dog in the steamed bun. Top with a line of yellow mustard, a large helping of the warm meat sauce, a handful of diced white onions, and a sprinkling of celery salt. Serve immediately.
