Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

Prepare regular bread dough according to your favorite recipe. Cover the dough and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2.

After resting, divide the dough into portions and roll each into a hotdog-sized log, about 6-8 inches long. Place the logs on a lightly floured surface, cover, and let them rest for 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3.

While the dough rests, butter the ends of two cookie sheets (or line with parchment paper). In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In another bowl, lightly beat 1 egg white.

  4. Step 4.

After the 15-minute rest, brush each bread stick with the beaten egg white, then sprinkle generously with the Parmesan mixture, turning to coat all sides. Place the bread sticks on the prepared cookie sheets, leaving space between them.

  5. Step 5.

Place the cookie sheets in a moist oven: to create moisture, place a pan of hot water on the bottom rack or spray the oven walls with water. Let the bread sticks rise for 15 minutes. Do not open the oven door during rising.

  6. Step 6.

After rising, bake the bread sticks at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
