Let's Cook

  1. Step 1.

In a 24-ounce glass dish, combine flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 2 teaspoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla until the batter is smooth. Stir in nuts.

  2. Step 2.

Sprinkle the batter evenly with brown sugar and 1 tablespoon cocoa.

  3. Step 3.

Place water in a measuring cup and microwave uncovered on high until boiling, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Pour the boiling water over the batter in the dish.

  4. Step 4.

Microwave the dish uncovered on high for 1 minute, then rotate the dish a quarter turn. Continue microwaving uncovered until the cake is set but still glossy on top, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes longer.
